1. Your purchase

The trial costs US$200, paid once before work starts. It is for creators purchasing research for their commercial activity. It is not offered for personal or household use.

The scope is set out below. You can pay before the initial call; you do not need a separate quotation for this trial. After payment, we assign a researcher and agree your start date. Any work outside this scope requires a separate written agreement.

The version of these terms provided when you purchase applies to your order. Later changes do not change an existing order unless we agree them with you.

Applicable tax may be added to the stated price. The total amount, including any tax, is shown before you confirm payment.

Payment is in US dollars. If your account uses another currency, your bank or payment provider may apply its own exchange rate or fees.

Your order confirmation should identify the service, amount paid, order reference and the version of the terms supplied before payment. Please keep that confirmation with these terms. Contact us if it is missing or contains an error.

2. What is included

  1. A 40-minute initial call. We record your current assumptions about your audience and the questions you want to explore.
  2. An invitation written by us. You share it with your audience. We select participants and arrange the interviews.
  3. Five recorded, one-to-one interviews. Each lasts 60–90 minutes. You do not attend, so participants can speak without the creator present.
  4. A written report. It follows the format illustrated in our sample report, with findings grounded in the interviews, their limits and proposed next steps. The sample uses fictional material; your findings will differ.
  5. A one-hour review call. We discuss the report and your questions.

3. Participants come from your audience

You publish or share the invitation we prepare. We handle selection and scheduling. Recruiting people outside your audience is not included in the trial.

If too few people respond, we revise the invitation and allow one additional week at no extra charge. If we still cannot complete five interviews, we contact you to agree an extension or to close the project and refund the unperformed part under section 6.

We will not replace the agreed five-interview study with a smaller report without your written agreement. An extension or change in scope is also agreed in writing.

Missed or incomplete interviews

A booking or a participant’s failure to attend does not count as a completed interview. We first try to reschedule or select another suitable person from the responses to your invitation. We do not count an abandoned interview towards the five without your written agreement to a revised scope.

If someone declines recording or withdraws, we respect that choice and discuss the next step. If we cannot complete the planned interviews, the extension and closure options above apply; we do not silently reduce the number you purchased.

4. Timing and your involvement

After payment, allow 1–2 weeks to assign a researcher and agree a start date. The research then takes about two weeks from that date. The usual total is about 3–4 weeks, rather than two weeks from payment.

Timing depends on participant responses and availability, and on scheduling your initial and review calls. The extra recruitment week, if needed, extends this estimate. We tell you about delays and agree the next steps; these estimates are not a guaranteed delivery date.

Your involvement includes the 40-minute initial call, sharing the invitation, responding to scheduling questions and the one-hour review call. Please tell us promptly if you need to reschedule.

If you need to pause

If you cannot share the invitation, supply agreed information or attend a call, please tell us. We agree a pause and revised schedule in writing. If we cannot reach you, we send a written reminder and pause the work that depends on your response.

A pause does not automatically forfeit your payment. Before restarting, we confirm researcher and participant availability. Any extra cost requires your written agreement. If the project is closed instead, the cancellation rules apply.

5. What the findings can establish

This is qualitative research. Five conversations help explain experiences and reasons; they do not measure percentages across your audience. The report contains our interpretation of the interview material, supported by the evidence available.

We do not guarantee sales, conversion rates, audience growth or the success of a proposed product. This does not remove our responsibility to provide the agreed service with reasonable care and skill.

6. Cancellation and refunds

Before work starts

Full refund before the initial call.

After work starts

Refund for unperformed work, with a written calculation.

If we cannot finish

Agree a revised plan or receive a refund for unprovided work; other remedies are preserved.

Before the initial call: a full refund.

Research work starts with that call. Assigning a researcher or reserving a date does not remove your right to this refund.

After the initial call, you may cancel by emailing hello@askcraftlab.com. We stop further work and refund the part of the US$200 fee attributable to work not performed. We provide an itemised explanation of the work completed and how the retained amount and refund were calculated. The retained amount must be proportionate to the service delivered and cannot exceed the fee paid.

This also applies if recruitment remains insufficient after the additional week and you choose to close the project. We do not charge a separate cancellation penalty or retain payment for interviews not carried out.

If we cannot provide the agreed service, we offer a revised plan for your approval or a refund for the unprovided work. This does not limit any remedy you may have for defective work or our breach of the agreement.

We initiate an agreed refund to the original payment method within 10 working days. Your payment provider may take additional time to display it. Once all agreed work has been properly delivered, a change of mind alone does not entitle you to a refund. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

7. Recordings and confidentiality

We record interviews for analysis after explaining the arrangements and obtaining the participant’s agreement. Participation is voluntary. Reports use participant codes rather than names; contextual details may still make someone recognisable, so reports should be treated as confidential.

Your trial includes the report, not the interview recordings or full transcripts. Sharing those materials requires a separate written agreement and the participant’s permission.

Access to recordings and transcripts is limited to people working on the research who need them. We delete them within 90 days after delivery of the report, or closure of an unfinished project. If a legal obligation or an active dispute requires specific material to be kept longer, we restrict access, review the need and delete it when that reason ends.

We do not publish client project materials without written permission. Permission from the client does not override participants’ rights or permissions. See our privacy information.

8. Any further research is a separate choice

The trial does not commit you to a full study or ongoing research. Any further work has its own agreed scope, price and terms. See full research terms.

Checking your report

If you find a factual error or an agreed deliverable is missing, email us with the relevant section and what needs attention. We review the issue and correct errors or supply missing agreed work without an additional fee, within a timeframe we confirm with you.

Research may challenge your initial assumptions. Disagreement with a supported finding does not by itself mean the work is defective. You can ask us to explain the evidence and reasoning. New research questions, extra interviews or additional deliverables require a separate agreement.

This process does not remove any rights or remedies for work that fails to meet the agreement.

Using the report

You may use the paid-for report and its findings in your business, including to develop content, products and services. You may share it with employees and contractors who need it for that work, provided they keep confidential material secure and respect the agreed research purpose.

This permission does not authorise publication of identifiable participant material, recordings or full transcripts. Before publishing quotations or extracts that could identify a participant, agree the necessary permissions with us. Removing a name alone may not prevent identification.

Ownership of pre-existing methods and materials is not transferred by this permission. Any wider publication, resale or transfer of rights is agreed separately in writing.
