How we work

Know what happens
at every stage.

From your first enquiry to a discussion of the findings. Here is what the work includes and what we agree together before the project begins.

Full scope including analysis from US$1,700. Recruitment alone from US$500.

First, we clarify
the decision you face.

You do not need a finished brief or a list of followers. Start by describing the decision you want to make.

  1. 01

What do you plan to change?

Topics, formats, your offer, positioning or communication. We turn the broad aim of understanding an audience into a specific decision.

  2. 02

    Whose experience can help?

What someone has done, when it happened, which options they compared and their role in the decision. These define our recruitment criteria.

  3. 03

    Which stages do you need?

Recruitment, interviews, analysis or a single stage. Before starting, we agree deliverables, fees, timing, access to materials and project responsibilities.

Each stage has
its own deliverable.

Recruiting participants, gathering interview material and producing an analytical report are distinct parts of the project.

  • Recordings or transcripts in the agreed format.
  • A descriptive summary of participants’ accounts.

Detailed recommendations belong to the analysis stage.

ANALYSIS · FROM US$500

Report and discussion

  • Situations, jobs and alternatives.
  • References to the evidence behind the findings.
  • Contradictions and limitations.
  • Hypotheses and ways to test them.

Starting prices cover recruitment for 20 interviews, the interviews themselves and, if selected, analysis of up to 20 interviews. Recruitment and interviews start at US$1,200; including analysis, the total starts at US$1,700. The final estimate depends on the project.

How to assess
the quality of the work

Use these questions to review the evidence and discuss your feedback.

Relevant experience

It is clear how each participant meets the criteria, which situation they describe and when it happened.

Traceable findings

You can follow an observation back to its source. A quotation remains distinct from the researcher’s interpretation.

Visible contradictions

Different accounts are preserved. Conflicting responses are not removed to create a neat overall story.

Testable next steps

Each proposal has supporting evidence, a limitation and a way to check whether it helps.

Who is responsible for what?

Coordination: criteria, recruitment, consent and scheduling. Interviews: the interview guide and the conversation. Analysis: comparing accounts, findings and limitations. Client: project context and decisions about applying the findings.

These are responsibilities within the process, not a statement about team size. We agree who will do the work and review it before the project starts. Your point of contact is Sergey Svetov.

QuestionWhat we agree
Hard-to-reach participantsCriteria, a realistic recruitment timeline and a process for agreeing changes.
Participant no-showsRescheduling or replacement, and the effect on timing and cost. These terms are agreed before starting.
Participant compensationWhether it is needed, whether it is included in the estimate and who arranges payment.
Recordings and personal dataConsent, access, anonymisation of quotations and retention arrangements.
Feedback and revisionsAcceptance criteria, how feedback is discussed and which revisions are included.
Stopping a projectHow work ends, payment for completed stages and transfer of materials.

This page explains the process. Specific commitments are set out in the agreed documents before payment.

We review the work before delivery

Interviews

We review the guide and the interview evidence: whether there are specific experiences, where questions may have led the participant and what remains unclear.

Analysis

Observations need supporting evidence. Quotations, interpretations and recommendations are kept separate.

Report

The lead researcher reviews the report before delivery. Open questions and limitations remain visible in the final version.

Tell us what decision
you need to make.

We will help turn it into a research question and an agreed plan.
